IP
Telephony is the two-way transmission of audio over an IP network.
When used in a private intranet or WAN, it is generally known as
"voice over IP," or "VoIP." When the public
Internet is the transport vehicle, it is referred to as "Internet
telephony," however, all three terms are used synonymously.
Convergence
or integration of data, voice, and video onto a single network can
play a critical part in helping your company with the following:
Identify
new ways to generate revenue
Reduce
operational costs
Increase
organisational flexibility
Generate
a sustainable competitive advantage.
Another benefit of
a converged network is that many new business applications that are
now deployed on converged networks provide immediate ways to
increase personal and workgroup productivity, while enhancing
customer care and responsiveness.
